Hand Forged Wrought Iron Designs

The natural beauty of the North Shore is Dale Burton's inspiration for his iron creations. He begins with raw elements, including iron, wood, and stone, and designs functional art objects, each unique and made by hand.

You can look all over the web and find sites that claim to sell "hand forged ironwork," but much of it is fabricated in a factory. Every single item at Burton Forge and Gallery has been produced by Dale's own two hands.

How it all began...

Dale has been a carpenter for most of his life, learning various techniques from his father, who learned from the "old timers" while working on the railroad.
Dale's father had an old, portable coal forge, stored in a shed, which piqued Dale's curiosity as a child. One day, Dale asked his father for the forge, brought it to Nashville,
and began experimenting with iron work. That was about 17 years ago. Since then, Dale has moved back to Northern Minnesota and has been busy refining his technique, building up his inventory, and has has built a retail space on Scenic Highway 61, called Burton Forge and Gallery.
